Act2 merc is just the best in any build
My recommendation for merc gear:
Insight fort andy or
Insight coh cure

i dont max shock aura its only give more dmg vs 1 mob so is waste of points, pure dmg is from holy bolt and aura from Infinity dont work on magic dmg

Then its not pure foh. You doing smite as well? Where do you spend the rest of the skill points?

I put 1 point in redemption and have 24 points left so and I think I can boost merc with fanatism? Or any better ideas?

if you ask me, id either do pure foh with convic and holy shock (20foh20shock20holybolt20conv, rest into holy shield and resist auras)
or hybrid foh/hammer or foh/smite whichever you like better

i think fanaticism is kind of ridiculous just to boost the merc dmg
i hope we get some other feedback

I play Single Player P8, and pure FoH was smooth against mobs but sucked against bosses - Nihlathak and Baal were a slog to play against.

I switched to a hybrid setup and while my overall DPS decreased, my kill time vs bosses was greatly improved.



My aura is Conviction vs Demon/Undead mobs, Holy Shock (with Zeal) vs Animal non-LI mobs, and Fana (with Smite) vs Animal LI mobs and bosses (also use Holy Bolt vs bosses for the last 5-10% life).

Best merc is A2 Desert Viper, no questions asked. Might if you need the damage, Holy Freeze for crowd control or Prayer for the Cure/Insight synergy.

Setup goes as said:
Insight/Fort/Andy for Might/Holy Freeze, Insight/Armor with leech (CoH is BiS, but you can go with Skin of the Flayed One)/Cure

If you go for the hybrid route, CB in any gear piece is a must, it melts bosses. And keep your shield base as Elite, it increases Smite damage (but the damage core will come from CB/OW).
