I see a lot of resources saying HFD does not affect HF for D2, but I'm not finding any info on D2R. Does anyone know or have tested?

Do you mean after the character affected by the holy freeze aura has left the aura radius? After killing duriel with 6 different characters with half freeze on a amulet i think it was, i think it does work. But i also used thawing potions to increase cold resist, so it may have been that instead.

keep in mind that cold length is also affected by cold resist for testing

Does cold resist matter if I have CBF?

for normal cold dmg ot does only affect the dmg (since cold length is denied completely). for holy freeze it should not matter as well (except dmg), since HF only uses the character color blue, but is technically not treated as chill effect (like other cold dmg) but just as a slow effect

Are we discussing half freeze or cannot be frozen?

Yeah following this line of logic, I would expect half freeze duration to NOT have an effect on HF duration

nothing changes holy freeze duration afaik, not even fade or cleansing

Cold Resist or Cannot be Frozen won't reduce or negate the slowing effect, so Immune to Cold targets may still be slowed. However, the value applied is the maximum (least negative) of HF or the target's chill effectiveness. Consequently HF will never apply more than -50 attack rate and -50% movement speed at level >11, and 0 chill effectiveness results in no slowing or radial cold damage being applied. [1]

No cold length is applied: HF is a separate source of - attack rate and - % movement speed which adds to that of cold length, Decrepify and Slows Target.

but holy freeze still deals periodic cold dmg on ticks, correct? not sure if this is affected by any mods...
but yeah, the regular slow effect of the skill is not
