Assuming the sticky guides are super outdated?

Hello, and currently running Eth CV insight/eth fort/10Ll Andy visage (non eth) Merc with prayer.

I’m trying to optimize Merc for mf farming with an Foh pally (which other than demons & undead can feel a bit slow at times) I’ve noticed some mercs have diff stats etc. so is there a certain named Merc I should try? And what recommendations on the aura choice?

Should I upgrade any of the current gear I have for him too. I just notice sometimes his damage feels lackluster and maybe I’m wrong but I’ve seen other mercs decimate certain areas/with diff gear/auras.

Just getting back into Diablo after some years so I’m not sure what has changed.

Edit: my Merc will die sometimes if not given continuous pots in certain situations which may be normal

Heck, even if you recommend a diff Merc entirely with diff gear I’d appreciate it.

Get the Holy Freeze Merc!

Lol thanks... Not to sure what I'll do yet I hope someone extremely knowledgeable can help me out here so I can live an easier life haha.

The Holy Freeze merc is quite literally the best merc there is for a caster, pretty much every guide or person will recommend this. The holy freeze slows enemies so they deal less dps towards you. It also helps with crowd control with tele stomp if you have enigma. Prayer is useless on a merc. If you need health, get redemption as a 1 point investment and have it on switch with CTA / spirit. Could let us know what your total gear set up is. This should be fairly simple, or you could go full hammerdin.

Pretty much have all gear sets available for myself (Using random MF gear, and enigma yes), but I plan on trying to stay Foh if possible, just enjoy the simplicity since I'm farming using Ps4 controller lmao...

frenzy act5 double plague sword, arreat cham + forti/treachery or guillaume cham + coh, ... many setups possibles around the double plague combo mainly focus on farming cs/travi, just check ias breakpoints to optimize

to me pala don't need mana regen since you have redemption + mana pots, I play hammerdin a lot in HC farming cs/tz and last time I played it I started with a fohdin

Yea man so I made a Doom and it actually works amazingly well with night merc seemingly. It does look like I REALLY miss insight med though tbh. The fact I’d never have to swap to redemption or use mana pot (on dpad via controller is disgusting hotkey) is way more convenient then previously thought.
