This is a repost of the Diablo 2 LLD Liberator ("Libby" ~ Hammer/Charge) guide written by Xvmurdacb And Exxo (all credit to both) with input from Marvel (credit to him) located here ->
https://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=43795125&f=143
I would comment that this D2og guide is probably the best LLD guide written.
This updated guide is intended for the game
Diablo 2 : Resurrected
.
====================================================================================================================================================
The Hammer/Charge combo is one of the most dangerous hybrid builds known to LLD. With two high damage primary attacks (Hammer; Charge), high life, ability to easily stack resistances, holy shield for retarded block rate/increased block ability, a a liberator can perfectly mix playing offensive and defensive. It is worth noting that with desync greatly reduced in D2r, the times of invisible hammerfields and invisible charges are greatly diminished. Certain matchups are now much harder then before however with a much smoother charge skill and a bit of patiance you still have one of the strongest LLD builds in the game.
Note: Typically thie build uses Honor(Medi Conc Hammer)+Spirit Shield on 1 side and a Insight Partizan on the 2nd side. However, a Conv + FoH Stick + Spirit Shield on switch is also an option.
====================================================================================================================================================
Break Points:
FCR 75% or 125% breakpoint (See Gear Section)
From the D2og Guide (Still valid today):
125% FCR (More hammer based)
-Faster frame hammering
-Better base resistances
-Better hammer damage
-Better foh damage(if you happen to use it)
-Slightly higher attack rating
75% FCR (More charge based)
-More life
-More charge damage
-More mana
====================================================================================================================================================
Stat Placement:
Strength - Enough for gear (113 Str - Partizan).
Dex - Enough for maxblock
Vit - The Rest
Energy - None
Hell Rushed, all stat/skill quests completed.
====================================================================================================================================================
Gear:
There are 2 FCR breakpoints listed above noting that in certain matchups its optimal for your charge damage to be higher (i.e. vs a bowa) in those instances you switch to +damage gear. Otherwise, where you do not charge-to-hit opponents, the higher FCR breakpoint of 125 FCR is optimal.
====================================================================================================================================================
Circlet
1.
Rare Circlet 2PC 20FCR 2 Sox
Starter: 2 PC or 1 Pala 20 FCR or a Peasant Crown (75% FCR setup)
Intermediate: 2 PC or 1 Pala 20FCR 2 Sox + Mana
End Goal: 2 PC or +1 Pala 20FCR 60 Life 90 Mana
2 Sox
I cannot emphasise enough that you really want 2PC/20FCR/
2Sox
as that does wonders for your charge damage.
Perfect jewels to my mind would be x2 18max 6str 9 dex, but for starter you can use 24 maxers (or even just 20 maxers). I do not recommend Pskulls (you have enough Repl from Honor +1 item)
Amulet:
1.
Rare Amulet 2 PC (or +1 Pala) 10fcr + Life + Mana
Starter: 2PC (or +1 Pala) 10 FCR + Life or Mana
Intermediate: 2 PC (or +1 Pala) 10 FCR Life + Mana
End Goal: 2 PC 10 FCR 60 Life 10 Replenish Life 90 Mana
You dont need Res from Jewels or Items as Paladins have Viper + Anya + Spirit Shields (all you need for resistances right there). As you typicaly never switch your amulet you can look for Str/Dex here as a 5th~6th mod.
Weapon(s):
Starter: Divine Scepter with Medi. Whats needed to "make" the build
Advanced: Divine Scepter with Medi and Conc and/or Blessed Hammer
End Goal: Divine Scepter with Medi, Hammer + Conc.
Dream Goal: A rare Divine Scepter with 165ed Eth Repl and Medi + 2 sox (for insane charge damage). This would allow you to ditch the Partizan on switch and save alot of stat points.
Note: While a pure hammerdin is very similar to this build ( uses a spirit sword, does not have charge damage ) the simple ability to have another form of attack (charge) makes it such that I can't recommend playing pure hammerdin. Its just too much of an advantage to play Libby over Hammerdin.
Shield:
1.
Spirit in Crown Shield 65%ed 121ar. A resistance version (i.e. 45 all res base) is optimal to stack resistances vs Conviction / Blizzard.
There is no other type of shield other then spirit (but it can be made in a number of bases (I recommend crown though).
Switch:
Insight Partizan (or Eth Insight Partizan if you want to be bm) or a FoH Stick or a 2nd Honor with Medi if you dont have it on main.
If you dont want to stat to the Partizan you can also use a Rune Staff Insight (it does a bit less damage but you will have more life).
Armour:
1.
Vipermagi with a 24 maxer (125% setup)
1.
Artisans Mage Plate of the Squid (80 life 3 sox) with x3 24 maxers (75% setup)
Strongly recommended to use the Mage Plate vs Amazons, it really boosts your charge damage by alot and with invisible yodering around the blood more a thing of the past, hammer alone does not cut it anymore.
Gloves:
1.
Frostburns (75% FCR Setup)
1.
Magefists (125% FCR Setup)
Rings:
1.
1 SOJ + Rare Ring
1.
Rare Ring: 10fcr AR Str Life Mana
Belt:
1.
String of Ears
I do not recommend a Rare belt for any LLD Build whatsoever. However feel free to explore Caster Belts if you really want to use x2 SOJ's.
There are various ways to craft LLD caster belts ~
Option 1:
Where to buy magic light belts: Charsi (Nightmare), Gheed (Nightmare), Elzix (Nightmare)
What char lvl we need: For both crafting and buying belts we need character level 29
This is the best way to get a Life and Mana roll on the belt.
Option 2:
Where to buy magic sharkskin belts: Elzix (Nightmare)
What char lvl we need: Shop at level 71, Craft at Level 1 (roughly 1/90 chance of a 10/24 for lvl 30)
This looks to be one of the best ways to get replenish life on the belt.
Boots:
1.
Sanders
You don't need resistances to these are basically the best in slot (unfortunately!)
2.
Tearhaunch
With no ability to use vigor (Prayer not skilled) these boots grant Vigor, which you might consider in a team setup.
====================================================================================================================================================
Invent:
1.
x40 15 Life 12 mana small charms or you can try xx amount of 15/12 and xx amount of 3max/20ar/15life small charms (it all depends on the quality of your mana pool).
2. You can realistically start this build with x40 15life plain charms and work your way up to Life+Mana small charms.
====================================================================================================================================================
Skills:
With hard stat Prayer considered BM @ LLD, the following Skill placement is deemed optimal ~
1 in Might
19 in Blessed Aim
4 in Concentration
1 in Smite
1 in Charge
1 in Holy Shield
1 in Holy Bolt
13 in Blessed Hammer
If you play in TvT you should consider getting fana on one of your Honor's to support any Bowa in your team (not recommended to skill it).
====================================================================================================================================================
Congratulations! You have made a cookie cutter LLD Libby . Without 1000+ Life and 1000+ Mana and a lovely movement skill, feel free to (smoothly!) charge around your opponents
====================================================================================================================================================
I have purposesly not added a strategy section to this guide noting its too early in the life of D2r to provide a comprehensive strategy section. However I would refer everyone to the D2og guide (while accepting invis charge no longer works as well)
====================================================================================================================================================
I or someone else will/can update this accordingly in the future in the event that new gear (runeword/other) become available. Kudos most especially to Sxtitan and everyone that has contributed both to the previous guide & the build over the years. Kudos also to kukiFBK for the crafting handbook. If I missed anything let me know and I can add on repost.
