Only psychopaths tell others to "earn" respect. Normal people respect others fundamentally, then others must work to retain and build on that respect. It is normal to show respect fundamentally. Any surplus respect and trust is just a bonus. If the other person make a mistake, they should get the benefit of the doubt. Didn't anyone ever tell you that? That is how it works in the real world. Of course i have respect for people that do great things in this world. But if people that do great things act like pieces of shit, i don't respect them either way, because to me, 1000 broken lives isn't worth the price.
