saw this cheap AF 3os/8ll tiara for 150 in case anyone wanted to snag it

Thx :) is it better than eth andy for merc setup ? Could socket 3x demon dmg ias jwls in it i guess (travi farming only) B)

It's more flexible and will depend on your merc setup. For example, to hit the 4.5fpa jab bp with Ariocs, you need 75ias. So with Ariocs (30ias built in) + 15ias/ed jewel, and 2xias/ed or dtd jewel in a circ, that gives you a very clean 1os leftover for a cham/shael/lem or whatever else.

to hit the same bp with Andy's you're going to need to socket with a 15ias jewel. You can go with 15ias/ed or dtd, but the negative fire res is going to hurt (unless you're using CoH, but there you're losing out on 100%ed vs forti).

One thing that somewhat offsets this is that the native +30str and +2 skills on Andy works out to be about +55%ed. So really what you're gaining is the ability to hit the 4.5fpa breakpoint, while getting that 1os flexibility to customize the merc.

very good explantion got ya so this circlet is useful to gain +1 free to use socket :thumbsup:

one thing iam not sure when using eth andy face coh ariocs setup .... socket ias/ed jwl or ias/dtd jwl what would be more dmg overall for merc ?

dtd jewels are cheaper as well as providing some bonus AR. probably not too noticeable though.

this is a great guide. very informative and accurate.

one point tho - i still insist Spellsteel is the better way to go for the long run. considering the amount of times i need to use switch on X amount of runs and the fact that
the merc is a killing machine ( botd\fort\andy ), on lvl 94 i prefer Spellsteel for it's convenience over Gavel's pain in the ass absurd amount of charges.

Spellsteel vs Gavel comes down to convenience and consistency vs faster clear. in most cases i checked, Spellsteel is the way to go.

dunno, it takes like 5 sec to repair gavel? (and like 1/10 you dont need to because only 1 charge is used), not sure if the damage boost lost is worth to save few seconds.. also not sure if decrepify doesnt waste corpses? never tried tbh

decrep doesn't waste corpses. the bigger issue is that the low lvl decrep from spell steel has a tiny radius and doesn't last long, so you're recasting it multiple times. this means less time in gf switch. it's also a lot worse vs phys immunes, which still has 90%phys resistance (vs 80% after amp, which still kinda sucks).

I agree with the human factor though, it's a huge hassle psychologically to go town, a4, repair after every run vs save/exiting. they need to make Gavel at least 6 charges or something.

but you go A4 anyway before save exit. (because road to wp in A4 is much shorter), so you might as well spend 3 more seconds for repair. :unsure:
