Note on the formula, since it can be confusing and is also a bit mistyped :/

Huge thanks to TheFranchise for bringing this back up and helping me figure it out more accurately

Quote (Previous Formula)
(Shield Base + Holy Shield bonus + Grief bonus) * (1 + Smite %ED bonus + STR %ED bonus + Fanaticism %ED bonus + off-weapon %ED bonus) = Total damage

It SHOULD be read like this:

Quote (Correct Formula)
(Shield base + Holy shield bonus + Grief bonus) + (1 + smite skill ED + Strength bonus ED + Fanatacism ED + offweapon ED bonus)% = total damage

Obviously the last bracket's final number is added up as a percent.
Example (hypothetical numbers): first bracket adds up to 500 and second bracket adds up to 1200.
500 + 1200% = 6,500 = raw smite damage

Afterwards be sure to apply pvp penalty and % damage reduction etc etc to guage how much damage you're doing to a certain opponent.

I really, really, REALLY suck at math, thus it wouldn't surprise if I still made an error or didn't to the best job explaining this. Apologies in advance dry.gif

Err, no it's still *, Jai.

Should read like this:

(Shield base + Holy shield bonus + Grief bonus) * (1 + smite skill ED + Strength bonus ED + Fanatacism ED + offweapon ED bonus)% = total damage

So for my HoZ build it's like:

(46+148+400)*(1+630+194+536+0)% = total damage
594*1361% = 8084 total damage

And for pvp penalty:

8084*.1667=1347 pvp damage.

Then just -(opponents dr)% = actual damage

So for an opponent with 50 dr my damage would be:

(46+148+400)*(1+630+194+536+0)% = total damage
594*1361% = 8084 total damage

then:

8084*.1667=1347 pvp damage

then:

1347*-50%=710 damage

I think..

8084 is 1361% of 594... but you stopped there, you hadn't multiplied it =/. If you did you'd end up with a few million damage again ^__^

Looking your numbers for an example;

594 + 1361% = 8,678

8,678 * .1667 = 1446

Vs a max dr opponent that's 723 damage done assuming no bone shield/es and no drastic "damage reduced by X"

Yea exactly.

1361% of 594 = damage.

594 * 1361% = damage

594 + 1361% = 8084

Oh, what'ya know, works both ways.

What is so difficult about the calculations? =\

Quote
(Shield base + Holy shield bonus + Grief bonus) * ((1 + smite skill ED + Strength bonus ED + Fanatacism ED + offweapon ED bonus)/100) = Damage
This is better I think.
