hella guide first and foremost.

I am midway between noob and pro and my BvC was my best overall dueler for longevity and being versatile to face whoever. I see a few things that I have done wrong in the past, namely the inclusion of leap and widowmaker in my build.

finishing an orb/es project currently, but for the rest of this season and my first dueler of next season will be BvC due to your guide.

do you guys duel regularly, i.e. to get in some practice outside the pubs? pm me if it is possible to get in/sit in to watch/duel.

thanks again for the guide.

I've got about 12k defense. That's it. Defense isn't really a factor against anything other than perhaps charge or something like that. If your friends barb sucks, it's more than likely he's just not that good with it yet. It's all about practice. But then again, it matters what he sucks against..

Rom, what's the skill layout on your BvC? 14 Leap I'm guessing though, from the defense. Or then you are just pretty high level. My BvC has ~9-10k defense, but he is using a random Scarab Husk Enigma and has 2 base points in Shout so..

The defense is actually a little factor versus a lot of opponents:
wolfs
WWsins
other barbarians
charge
strafe
Zeal
Kicksins

However, most of those can be beaten easily anyways.

Off the top of my head:

20 WW
20 Mastery
20 BO
20 Leap
4~ Inc. Speed
3~ Nat.Resist
1 point wonders
Preqs.
Rest dumped into shout

I'm lvl 93 and a half, but I figure I'll rebuild once I have free time.

Edit:

10 into shout
1 into Nat res
3 into Inc. speed

I do have high def % items though. However, I didn't specifically look for them, they just ended up being the items I bought.

12,490 def

- Hmm well, Mage + 2x Caster ring [which should be Trangs + 2x Caster ring, really] are alright but when you're going for extra DR [I'm guessing you're talking about Mage + rings + Verdungo] that usually means your opponent is physical damage, and most of the time you're talking about physical damage you're going after things with high defense [the exceptions are Wind Druids and Bowzons], and you generally need good AR [Angelics or Hsarus Boots+belt] to hit them. To this end, I don't think it's worth sacrificing some stash space for a Verdungos, unless you're a bit nervous about not having max DR. It's a good combination, but due to stash space, I wouldn't suggest having it. Having 38% DR is usually enough [CoA + Enigma].

- Yes, you need to stack a little light resist. Otherwise those farcast prog using Zons will kill you really easily [you need to have stacked resist if you use Tgods, or Tgods won't do anything]. The same goes for light sorcs. FoH is similar to blizz sorcs, which I'll discuss now.

- Blizz [and cold sorcs in general] require you to stack specifically against them. This is because if you only stack a few items [trangs and FCR rings with 15 cold res on each ring, for example], you'll STILL be in the -100 CR, even including your normal resist stuff [Arreats/Torch/Anni/etc]. You have to either stack a lot and sacrifice something [charms/helm/weapon/etc] or just do what I do and wear 2x Ravens. The absorb doesn't work with the first hit [because absorb heals first, but since you're at full life, you don't get the life you 'heal'], but in general you can tank 3-4 blizzards with 2x Ravens.

- FoH is similar. It's annoying as hell with FoH, since with Cold sorcs you can dodge orbs/blizzards, but FoH is auto-hitting, so you HAVE to stack, or you'll get killed easily. I'd say get a Kiras with an Ort [or an Um, so you can just use that same Kiras against Cold sorcs] and a few life/light res SCs. If you're West NL, then you have access to Rune Loops/Eagle Whorls, which give 62 and 54~ light res, respectively. The majority of FoHers don't have high defense [or even a Smite backup], so you can generally get away with constantly tele WWing them. V/T's or T/V's require a different setup, but then again that's a different topic.

- Note, I originally planned to get like 10x 11light/life resist SCs and some other gear [which is mainly geared for V/T's and T/V's], but since V/T's and the like are rare on West NL, I got lazy. If you fight a Smite/FoHer, you need DR, resists, AND AR [since they usually have good def], so that means you need to rely on SCs for resist. You can use a weapon to give you resist, but then you lose damage. You can also just play without a CoA and use Kiras for resist, but it's up to you. Bottom line: Make sure you have enough light resist with both hell mode and conviction taken into account. Then you can just treat him like a smiter.
