think of it this way:

2x ravens = you take 1/5 damage
stacked resist = you take 1/8 damage
2x raven + stack = you take 1/40 damage

2x ravens is a hell of a lot easier to fight than stacked resists. The real issue is that it doesn't hurt their gear, and they might have MODERATELY stacked resists below it (so they're only at say -50% or -25% after mastery)

Theres no limit to -resists from cold mastery, but you can only reduce someone to -100% resistances

conviction, on the other hand, only goes up to -150% resistance, and anything above that is treated as -150%

I don't see your problem if you can kill barbs in 3 hits. Most people aren't good at handling their characters. If you lose to someone it just means that you've encountered a more clever and better player than yourself and that you just have to get better. or do like most skilless people do, s/e and join with hammer.

Not quite. Cleverness and skill doesn't come as much into play when gear gives one player a large advantage over there other. Slapping on cold invincibility rings with cold stack and then charging your opponent recklessly doesn't count as cleverness. I can handle my character pretty well, thanks. (Failflame?)

But I do agree with some aspects of your post. Thankfully, blizzard works very well against spammadins.
