and theres plenty of opportunities for those smiters to hit you when you stunlock them and try to push an iffy whirl and get smackeddown. When they charge out of a stunlock and hit you 3 times in a row, or when they simply tank a dozen whirls because you have a 1/20 chance to hit.

First it was.
If you dont have all of that "stacked ar" vs a smiter you wont be able to hit them. Therefore you lose.

Now it is.
You might win, but you'll have trouble hitting smiters.

hybrids gonna have 190 less % ar compared to a ghost, and often they lack fools claws. Even this one, as you said, gets 5700 with regular setup, 13000 fools. Well, 13000 AR is only a 20% chance to hit a 50k defense paladin, and thats a 95% chance to miss overall; you'll land 1/20 hits. Now thats what I'd call "trouble hitting smiters"


It;s been a while since I've seen a smiter boast 50k defense..
