You're not really meant to perma CC them, yeah. I'd have to see what's going on.

Having a bit of fun right now & replaced Andariel's Visage on the merc with a 3os Circlet of Wealth



Lose the life leech (irrelevant with BotD, something to keep in mind with Arioc's despite the very high consistency on minions), but get higher goldfind (effective 66~%) while maintaining extremely high DPS.

Trying to assemble some impossible setup (will never happen probably) that looks like this:



This would maintain the same DPS as the above (losing an IAS breakpoint), but provide 170% goldfind (effective 112~ since mercenary Goldfind is only 66% effective).

When I read that it took your leap barb 3 mins per run I couldn’t take any further advice seriously

Takes about 1m30 or so if the gear is good & spawn is okay. Not all spawns are ideal for Leap, but it doesn't mean it's always slow. It's just slower than bullying Council with Gavel & keeping them bunched up.

Most people just starting to goldfind with little experience & Gavel will take 2-3 mins consistently.

Im currently running a super budget gf/mf barb using stuff i found on my stash/mule and small purchase from jsp to fill it up.

Only achieved 1k+ gf, but my main goal is to honk corpse with mf ( barb was previously a ww barb but was stripped to finance my light sorc )

How do you deal with holy freeze aura, I encountered a few times and its super waste of time when my merc is just slowly walking around trying to kill.

My merc is currently using crappy toll reaper, andy with Ral and treachery so i had to save and exit whenever there's conviction since the chance of my merc dying is 100%

Im currently using wizard spike + spirit , and ist gul + lemlem alibaba on swap to honk, sometimes i switch mid fight to benefit from the gf and mf if my merc is doing well.

But tbh i feel my merc is lacking in damage and my run isn't very efficient. Yet I'm not looking to invest too much as this barb is mainly to keep myself fresh after excessive chaos run.

Im currently using shako, maras and war travellers instead, any idea if this can work or ik helm is much better?

I might consider investing in a eth needle or ebotd war pike if it would speed up my runs by a lot.

havent read this since ive been using Gavel amp on a gf barb for the past 8 years before it was ever cool or hip to do so. justpro. get with the times girls.

one tip, not sure if its here. i like to run to council (dont have teleport charges) get a bit of aggro to pool them. then dip into durance level 1 and then back into trav to reset mercs position. works well

Teleport on top of the enemy => Mercenary will attack it. Same with Conviction. Gladiator's Bane armor (and better armor in general) helps with survival vs. bad comps.


Switch off of Reaper's, and get an Ethereal Arioc's, or an eBOTD War Pike (better if you're not as used to the farming strategy).
If you're using Treachery, just swap to Glad's bane with an Um Rune (or 15All res jewel). Treachery is a trap, it's awful & guarantees your Merc will explode randomly very frequently. ThaT's assuming you don't wanna upgrade to Fortitude or Chains of Honor (both are better than Glad's Bane).


If you're looking to MF, there are way better spots than Trav. That being said, you can get a lot of Rare Rings, Amulets etc. here, and you can make decent gamble packs with the loot.
People farm Trav mostly for goldfind; if you REALLY want to farm for MF, just use Immortal King's Will 40MF with two Ist Runes, and dual wield Ali Baba with two Ist Runes.

For boots I'd just use good resists so you're also safe when farming. Lightning Res > Fire Res > Cold Res > Poison.


This can help, but yeah. It helps a lot when you need a quick "clusterfuck reset" IF you don't teleport for positioning. Agreed.

You are right about trav for mf, any recommendation of spots “safer” for my merc without gg gear? I likely trav for the better than avg chance of honking HR as a bonus. But perhaps higher lvl area might be better for the chance of getting gg uniques like griffon i guess.

I cant believe i vendor/threw away so many bis gf barb equip in the past…
