How many attacks per second would a 3/3/3/3/5 Fury be?

3 frames per attack * 4 fury attacks is 12 frames
+ 5 frames for the one slower frame attack

17 frames / 5 attacks is an average of 3.4 frames per attack.

There are 25 frames in a second in Diablo 2.

25/3.4 = 7.35 attacks per second.

Okay so then, is this math correct?

eBotd Archon: reaches 4/4/4/4/7 with 60 weapon IAS and 30 gear IAS. Average Damage = 136.5 * 5.15 = 702. DPS = 702 x 5.43 = 3811 DPS

eTomb: reaches 3/3/3/3/5 with 100 weapon IAS and 0 gear IAS (or with 90 weapon IAS and 80 gear IAS, which I think isn't realistic). Average Damage = 136.25 * 3.80 = 517. DPS = 517 x 7.35 = 3799 DPS

eBotd GPA: reaches 4/4/4/4/6 with 60 weapon IAS and 0 gear IAS. Average Damage = 129.75 * 5.15 = 668. DPS = 668 x 5.68 = 3794 DPS

eBotd Thunder Maul: reaches 5/5/5/5/8 with 60 weapon IAS and 0 gear IAS. Average Damage = 159.75 * 5.15 = 822. DPS = 822 x 4.46 = 3666 DPS

So based on that, eBotd Archon, assuming all perfect items here, narrowly leads and beats out a 3 frame eTomb.

Of course eBotD also gives + 30 to Strength and on Archon Staff you will have more base Strength than on eTomb. I also did not account for the 1.1 multiplier on the Thunder Maul when building for STR. I'd assume this would bring eBotD Thunder Maul slightly closer to these other weapons.

Looks correct. It’s a balancing act between what etomb has to offer and what ebotd archon has to offer. One the one hand more range and resistances, on the other more damage and leech.

Funnily enough, I'm currently running eTomb with Bloodfist and Highlords, so 30 IAS and level 35 Wolf. When I switch to the Archon Staff, I become noticeably slower. I suspect I might need maybe 31 or more IAS and the breakpoint isn't entirely correct.

Anyone know how many frames this is by looking at the video? I was talking with tcpgeest and he said this setup SHOULD be getting 3 frames

Right I haven’t checked Gel’s math in game. I’m going to hero edit some stuff on LoD and import it into single player D2R at some point to test.

Yeah so I equipped 20 ias gloves now and put 15 ias in the helm, and I am still at 5/5/5/5/8 from what I can discern, it's looking like a full frame slower than my eTomb with 90 IAS and the same amount of IAS.

I also took off all my IAS gear, and my animation speed did not change at all. Seems to indicate that gear IAS still has no effect on Fury speed, and that it is still all weapon IAS.

Edit:

I also equipped a ribcracker now, which has 65 IAS on gear, and it is swinging faster than the eBotD Archon Staff. Taking off or putting on IAS gear did nothing.

Also, I had a friend turn on Fanaticism and that seemed to increase the animation speed for all configurations mentioned above.

I think we’re going to have to try rounding the math differently to come up with the breakpoints, or just test in game with white weapons and shael runes until we can confirm. I haven’t been able to play this week, going back to the grind next week so maybe I’ll have some answers soon.
