it is my understanding that xepolite said that the damage difference between gt and rt is so small that the extra 10 damage you deal with a runic after pvp penalties and such is not worth the extra stats unless you have the stats

You should. This is a guide, it says what people should try to get. Just look at his suggestions, they are all perfect (not to mention some of them are impossible).

Xepolite never said that GTs have the same damage as RTs, he just said that, in his opinion, the difference in damage isn't worth the stat requirement (though I disagree with this).

Yes that's basically saying they're the same damage.
The fact is that it's wrong. Any hybrid or ghost will tell you that GTs are NOWHERE near the same damage as RTs. Not as close as he says.

just because you prefer to use runics doesnt mean that other people do as well

and when it comes down to end-game pvp damage differences are all a matter of mathematics, not your perception. just because you would like to believe something, that doesnt mean its true

maybe when you and your friends use runics you just happen to get critical strikes alot and every time you have ever tried a gt you didnt

i personally prefer to not waste a stat point if i dont have to, i dont notice a difference between gt's and runics, and i enjoy the freedom to change gear without worrying about getting the stats somewhere

That is because xepo did the math horribly incorrectly, he came up with a number that is far off what he should have.

His math was correct but he was thinking about just magical fools claws of quickness, where there is no ED%

regardless of that... runics > GT. GT = trapper claw. wwsins should have good physical damage as well, not just venom

as for question #2, have you come to an agreement that gclaw + feral or runic is the best combo yet?

No. The ideal two base claw types are warfist (for the fools) and feral claws (for the chaos). Higher damage than your setup, and faster trap laying speed. Win Win
