And also why you see most people playing a Trapsin in Gm games, and then claiming "gm"
Shouldn't "GM" be a part of your playstyle as well? If you're laying traps on the ground and sitting in a corner, isn't that BM in itself? In professional sports they don't limit you based on your natural genetics, just because you're a Necro you can wear Hotspurs, but I can't because I'm a paladin? How does that make any sense, but it's justified; you can use Bmanas, a blatantly hacked item which gives ridiculous benefits (4 times stronger than a regular charm in terms of mana), but you can use 13 of them?
I'd suggest "GM" rules would be fair in Class vs Class, not Class vs All.
Like sorb should obviously be banned in SvS, and revives obviously shouldn't be used, but to say I can't use more than 10% max light res, but you can use 13 bmanas having 6k mana playing l8z on your Sorc and expect me to take you seriously? Sure, I'll win even with your rules, but I feel like GM rules in Class vs All just extends the match meaninglessly.
Being GM is part of playstyle and always has been
That's why people call mediators in for world ladder matches
To make sure no one is playing "over defensively"
Many rulesets have tried to implement the over defensive rule as a solid rule but it doesn't work without a mediator, thus why most rulesets no longer mention the over defensive rule
Most classes are not allowed to wear Hotspur because they do not need them and already have balanced defenses vs. a Fireball Sorc or Fire Aura
Those that are allowed to wear Hotspur are the classes that struggle against Sorc or Fire Aura and thus why Hotspur is allowed as a balancing crutch
Any item is allowed as long as it is perm
This used to mean that if it's perm, it was a natural bug in the game and that makes it a legit item
Which is silly because plenty of duplication processes make perm items nowadays, this rule should be updated
But besides that, you're talking about what people want to do, to have fun
People like using Bmanas, perm or not, and it's the only way to make a really kick ass E-Shield Sorc ~ Without Bmanas, the build loses it's point and status amongst other builds
In other words, if you were to ban certain items like Bmanas, it begins limiting the choice of build structures that people can viably use in Diablo II pvp, may as well allow them
I mean honestly, no one has ever seen a Bmana Sorc in the top 3 ranks of a world ladder, it isn't really that big of a deal and the Sorc needs them to keep up against the superior classes anyway
The GM rules were designed for All Class vs. All Class
It's been a 15 year refining process with much community effort to deliver where the rules are now
Trust me when I say, you couldn't refine them any further
If you tried, you would eventually realize why they are written exactly the way that they are now, with enough time playing pvp
The general absorb rules run as 80/20, which means: You are allowed 5% to a max res and 20 sorb of that same res
You are generally also allowed to ditch that 20 sorb and go 10% to the max res
15% or more is just too much in any situation ~ Try mediating a ladder for awhile, you'll see why
I see you complain about EShield Sorcs specifically, which leads me to believe that you're losing to good EShield Sorcs
But you need to understand that the drawback to that EShield Sorc is that it isn't using res at all and has terrible low HP value
Any EShield Sorc is plain hard-countered by any form of Open Wounds or Poison ~ End Of Story
Stop fighting EShield Sorcs with characters that have no OW or Poison
There is a rock/paper/scissors effect with what builds can counter other builds ~ get used to it if you want to All Class vs All Class
If you want hard balance, stick to Same Class vs Same Class
