The thermal compound is not important. The two wireless options, the default one selected is what you would find in any laptop at Bestbuy. The Intel® Advanced-N 6200 - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module, gets a better signal when you're further away from a wireless source, so it's good to have if your school campus has bad wireless or you surf the web at an airport.

Ah I see well it's only a $35 increase and I'd be paying cash which gets a 26.50 discount so it's only an extra 8.50
