Didn't read the last few pages since tl:dr but let me explain. The "hard part" of gm melee is when you build your char. You need to stat it perfectly to use multiple different setups at different times and know which setup to use to counter other setups. Making a caster is easy as hell and any monkey can make one and do well. Also i'll vouch that the melee community is much more mature and gm than the caster community.

Yeah mostly the ones who cry about gm melee being dumb are just raged that they couldn't ever afford one.
