All off-weapon and skill ED% works on Grief's + dmg as if it were the base damage of the weapon.

yea and this is the problem here. you're getting higher damage with grief becouse you assume +damage works like that. Like I said before, if the hypothesis is not true all conclusions derived from it are also not true.

Looks like grief damage is more closely packed in as you would expect, but EDC seems to be harder hitting. I guess if I followed tudey's guide to the letter and used all that +str stuff it would only favour EDC?

But anyway I'm of to work, I'll leave it to you guys to ponder the results ( if you have any questions about what I used pm me and I'll write to you when I'm back ).
