well you know that not every Eni-player plays like a coward.. for example if you look at Xenion, Kenniacmoto, Argand .. they all are everything else than "careful" and still kick ass

the main point is to try to catch the other between wwds, while standing still. thats not easy.
ofc gear and luck matters but its not z vs z or conc vs conc, your skill can provide the 2 extra hits that make u win or lose
every time you hear your shield blocking means that u are caugth by the other player
its hard to know when the other barb will stop his ww, because he can also do shot ones to trick u... or longer ones...
you can also try to put back to the other and ww into the same direction, that allows you sometiems to hit very hard, helped by little ww desynch
also mana pots isnt allowed... frw and mana burning matters...
there is a lot of factors, ofc if your barb is lvl 40 u will loose XD but skill matters
