Absorb is a pre-heal, not a post-heal. If a sorc is going to kill you in 1 hit, applying ravens makes no difference, she'll still kill you in 1 hit.
Thats why the 1st hit from blizzard always hurts more than the 2nd / 3rd / etc
(You'll be at full hp, then get healed for 40% of the attack to.... full hp, then take 60% of the damage, so you take 60% overall instead of 20%

Against a hammer who does absolutely nothing but desync, yes, its worthless. But the second he teleports, plays offensively, or tries to tank, it buttfucks him.
Actually even against desyncers, I can score a lucky amp once in a while by just running away and tossing backwards. Rare occurrence, sure, but its better than nothing.'
But against a hammer that tries offensive teleporting, or is a hybrid, those lacerators are damned handy. I generally throw more than I whirlwind against those farts
