Have you considered running Doom instead of a 30/30 sword? That would let you go might Merc and still keep Holy Freeze.

The difference in damage is just too much to overcome unfortunately, that was my original idea, but you lose a huge chunk of hurricane damage

its a pretty big difference in damage but its a nice option no doubt. Its just that extra damage on the merc isn't that big an issue, and you don't benefit from the +2 skills towards hurricane if you just switch to spirit/cta to cast it. It does help tornado though
but most non-immune monsters are going to be reduced to -100 resists from the -145 combined resists, so there's a good chance that doom is just missing the +30% skill damage and not gaining anything from the -30 more resist
it would only really help for monsters with resist > 45. Storm Casters 0%, Doom knights are 20%, venom lords/diablo 50%. OKs are unbreakable. So not useful in chaos beyond unique mobs with extra +resists. Same general story with baal

Could always go with an ice bow. Middle of the road option.
+30% dmg
-20% res (shouldn’t waste any like with doom)
-lvl 18 holy freeze for more range and more %slow (vs lvl 12 with doom)
-cheaper/easier to acquire than all those perfect facets (only one thing to roll -25 to -30 res)
-gg style (is for fun build afterall)

that's comparing +30% / -20%
to +50% / -50%
or +2 nado / +20% / -80%

facets have been pretty cheap everywhere I've seen
