Oh yeah and for simple testing in hero editor, do this:

make a barb with any item that gives enough oias, and then give him one throwing axe with 100% ctc frost nova, and one throwing spear with 100% ctc nova (regular)
you'll see the projectiles both be javelins, and then throw vs a stationary target (catapult) from offscreen, and you'll see both triggering, even though the range of the frost nova projectile was far too low
