sigh
fire aura does shit damage, run the numbers, you'll see it to be true
lowering enemy lit res beyond what conv can do vs naturally immunes with crescent moon >> dank fire aura
burning soul has 110 lit res, conviction kicks in, he now has (110 - 150/5) = 80 lit res
20% of the lit damage is inflicted
add crescent moon
110 - 150/5 -35 = 45
55% of the lit dmg is inflicted, thats more than doubling nearly tripling your effective damage...
and for other monsters it pushes them further to the -100 side of the scale and even works on the ones that are out of range of the conviction aura!!!
i'de probably use something like coh or fort myself.. but in reality anything will do, and if you stick a facet in it, BAM
If you have a fire aura you can just melee them dead, fire adds the most melee damage. The aura damage itself is not good, but if you stack it it works. No need for a complete gear change for a few types of monsters that you rarely encounter anyways. Yes, they are cheaper alternatives that work, but really your losing passive aura damage and massive melee damage. You can just charge/zeal/smite anything that needs to be killed fast.
