nope it was added ages later, not when 1.10 was released immediately after 1.09

completely different programming teams worked on the 1.10 release and the 1.11 patch and the runewords that immediately preceded it.
Its pretty easy to notice that it was different people if you look at their work; the 1.10 runewords spell out actual words in their names, such as:
exile = VOID (vex ohm ist dol)
bramble = ROSE (ral ohm sur eth)
plus quite a few others (botd = wheeze, etc)

but when the new team came, they fucked it up with stuff like:
Last wish = JMJSJB

Grief was added as a Ladder Only RW on the Realms in v1.10 and noted in 1.11 SP.

And now you are arguing over exactly which of the Ladder resets in v1.10 that brought Grief ? ^^
