life on shako is much > than 50+ dr attained from COA. Only strap on coa for use with team duels were you need to use sorb belts like tgods/snowclash. Strap on some sspurs and your sorb belt with COA and you'll have your res still maxed with sorb + good dr still. You lose ALOT of life without shako so try other ways around not using it if you can. Personally I use COA and a tgods during temple duels so that the foh won't hurt me at all from a distance and I keep my DR when svs. I have a 1 point svs build and I murder pure smiters. I'm also FOH heavy and LIFE....repeat LIFE, is the most important part of any smiter build.

Smiters should be quick aggressive killers. Whether you are charge/smite, or foh/smite, LIFE is the key. I have 5.2k life at lvl 89 and I can tell you 1 thing, there's NO substitution for it. With sorb gear on I'm running no less than 4.8k life.

slippers
08 dupe gloves (14 str/19dex/36 life, etc)
waterwalks w/65 life +15 dex (most important for smite/smite duels)
dungos 38/15dr
20 dex raven
bk ring
ber shako
20 stat anni/torch

this makes 138 dex from gear alone allowing ALL points to go into VITA allowing for an EZ 5k life at lvl 90.

Even if you substituted the 08 duped glvoes for mav's gloves you'll still only use 2 dex points as mavs have 15 dex/20 str on them. Another good thing about this build is that it is backwards compatible with btals. You'll need this gear with same stat poitns used for btal usage:

mavs gloves or low req rare dual stat glvoes with at least 15 dex and 10 str and life/res preferably.

Even with btals you'll have around the same life, but you'll hit the 50% dr breakpoint with 10dr from shako, 25 from btals, and 15 from dungos.

Another alternative to this is using a griefz with bloodfists (10ias/30fhr/40 life). WIth this you can even throw on another bk ring as you won't need the dex for grief pb, ONLY RECOMMENDED VS CASTERS.
