As for the flamming of the math, thats pretty funny. You are currently flamming the +dmg calculation which again has been taken directly off of Arreat Summit. Now at first tudey thought Grief worked the same way you did until Arreat Summit updated their site and tudey went and tested it.

I did the calculations, and a 100% perfect zod EDC, factoring in the 100% deadly strike (66% from death, 37% from highlord's), has an average damage of 538, while a perfect Griefz, factoring in 37% DS from Highlord's, has an average damage of 613. This is not counting in Gore Riders; if you used those, amounting to 52% DS, Grief's avg damage would be 680.

EDC is inferior in every way and should never be considered an alternative to griefz.
