Hybrids are better for pubs, and it depends. If you literally want a character for vs everything, Hybrids are better since they do better vs Barbs. If you want to join 1v1 tournaments (especially double elim) then a Ghost is better since you won't be fighting barbs all the time and most other melee threats are really rare in tournaments (this is from an east viewpoint, eu might be different).

I don't really feel like Smiters beat Ghosts if you're patient, it's just that hybrids do a lot better vs them.

btw is using a visio diadem + fools claw as basic setup a good idea? or chaos/fury better vs low def chars?

Chaos/fury is better vs low def chars.

and the only one to hit ias BP with a suwayah on glove side is a feral/runic fury right?

+ visio circ is a req ?

A fools claw with sufficient IAS and high ED. Skills is also a nice bonus.
That claw setup is only for WSM bugging. If you don't want to, you can use Feral/Runic combo.
No, visionary circ is DEFINITELY not required.
