in WHAT WORLD, would you rather take damage (whether you are amped or not) WITHOUT damage reduction and consider that a good thing??

obvioulsy you want to have damage reduction, this whole threads purpose is to ask whether you get 100% more dmg with amplify, or 50% more, and the ANSWER is 50% more damage with DR

so you can confuse yourself over and over in your circular logic, but what i just explained is the answer, its NOT 3x the damage with DR and amped

We never said it's better or worse. We said you EFFECTIVELY take triple damage.

but your not taking triple damage..

In both equations you are taking dr into account.

With 0 dr the equation doesn't change. So 1000 stays 1000 after DR is taken into account, which then turns into to 2k because there is no + or - % except from amp. So it's double.

With 50 dr the equation changes. 1000 turns into 500 which then turns into 1500, which is triple the 500 you'd have taken. So it's triple, albeit a smaller number.

The amount is lesser, yes, but it's still triple..


Triple of 2 is 6 but double of 4 is 8 for example.

this is where you guys are not using your noggin, the whole question at hand is talking about Dam reduction effect on amplified damage,

so you dont do that conversion , your keep talking in terms of the original damage , where 1000 > 2000, and then 1000 > 1500. period.


thats it, your making extra conversions ans calculation that are not needed or add any value to the answer.

The second number on the second equation is 500.

You take triple what you WOULD HAVE TAKEN WITH WITH WITH WITH WITH 50% DR.

I did read this topic at full last night. Couldn't stop laughing.
I had to post 12 hours after because my brain did explode at the time being.

basically what we have here is a 5th grader who got tricked by a math question that had a little twist. the teacher first planned it as a fun activity to explore math and language. then the idiot in the back who couldn't figure it out for 20 minutes gets mad that they got tricked by a trick question. so they spend the rest of the class explaining how the trick works, but that it shouldn't work, because they shouldn't be trying to trick people.
