its all about the chances, but with higher ar you have better chance

in theory, yes. but in practice, it's... weird. i seem to hit less with 30k ar than 21k.

Often times I find a lower ar set-up is doing better because my damage is higher / i have more deadly strike / - target def / etc.

It's more like you've sacrificed ar so that your other stats are better, thus making it seem like you "hit more," when really you're hitting harder or you've done something that makes it easier to hit.
