Then there are also tricks to desyncing more, such as str glitched equipment with +frw (08valk, enigma, boots, etc) and charms with +frw are not displayed clientside for your opponents, and they cause a rediculous increase in frw desync compared to using all nonglitched frw gear without any frw charms. Because the server sees the true frw speeds, but your opponent is constantly having to resync because they don't see the real amount of frw when your character moves.
Then there are in game tactics which can forcibly cause desync - wsg is one, rapid weapon switching while running will cause desync, you will appear to move slow on your opponents screen when you have actually covered more distance with your wsg running, then you resync and jump on their screen from one point to another.
You can also get your character to desync by rubbing up against objects in the game, apparently the collision detection with frw desync movement is not too good in d2, so rubbing up against puddles or trees or rocks or even other players can desync your movement and it may appear to your opponent that you are not moving at all or moving in another direction.
Then there is buffwhirling. Every ww you make desyncs at least somewhat. If youve ever done large whirls or had large whirls done against you, you've probably noticed how the barb gets desynced and is closer than they appear, this is buffwhirling. It's kinda hard to describe but its somewhat of a curved chart, the longer the whirl movement the greater the increase in the amount the whirl gets desynced, so the more you move with whirl in one whirl the more it gets desynced. You can combine buffwhirls together without breaking the desync gained, although certain events may resync your characters. Short whirls tend to resync and so you don't get the buffwhirl effect if you are doing efficient triwhirl telestomps.
It's easy to observe buffwhirls, start doing a long whirl and keep doing it for a distance of a screen or so, that will get you incredible desync distance, then you can actually change your whirl direction 90degrees or whatever without letting go of whirl and hold with the buffwhirl, you will change direction from your desynced location, so if you know how to control this you can smack people around with multiple whirls without appearing over them. Another easy way to observe buffwhirls is to have someone (lets assume smiter since it's most common for this) namelock you, start doing a buffwhirl, 1/4 to 1/2 screen or more, whirl away from the smiter. As they telestomp on you from namelock, you should notice that their teleport takes them to your buffwhirl desynced location, and not where you appear on screen, so you can actually use buffwhirls to "throw around" pallies trying to telestomp on you and shake their locks.
Buffwhirling is kinda different from regular desync in that both you and the opponent see some desync, the opponent however will see you more desynced than you see yourself, and what the server sees is actually the truth of course. Also to note when you break a buffwhirl your character snaps back (resyncs) to the location displayed on your screen, not the buffwhirled location the server saw while the buffwhirl was happening. So basically: you can throw pallies around when they stomp on you, then you can change direction and continue the buff and hit them, or you can break the buff and walk another direction and be at a safe distance breaking their telestomp attempt.
The main application of buffwhirling I've used was this, to throw off pallies and other stuff that tries to stomp on you, basically make yourself invincible to telesmite with whirl. The other application is just short desync lengths to catch people offguard, such as buffwhirling through a bit of trap stun to kill a trapper who is not expecting a buffwhirl. (this does not work well vs anyone good however)
You can also of course combine different desync tactics together, such as loading up on frw charms and str glitching enigma to gain frw desync, then wsg spamming and running up to someone to desync while walking through stun, then buffwhirling to get a greater distance on the initial whirl hit which should be combined with other sync. Of course this is also risky cause you are walking around a lot (tele resyncs you) and doing large whirls leaves you very open to be raped if the desync is read properly by your opponent and avoided.
zons desyncing is different, thats frw movement and weapon switching. barbs do desync to some extent while using frw movement but thats different from buffwhirls, buffwhirls are the whirls themselves desyncing and its a bit different from what you see on your screen and very different from what your opponent sees.
details sekrets of buffwhirl explained in essay above.
remember, you don't see the desync much on your end of things, it's your opponent that has to deal with it and ideally you should be in as different of a location as possible on their screen.
