Ya it’s relatively close. But it is also extremely hard to truely math the difference between the increase in immediate damage of chaos (physical and magic damage) vs OW of fury.

hard but not impossible. I'd say the ww glitch in 2.4 makes more OW weight higher because you're connecting fewer hits in general, besides the autowsg guaranteeing that. In previous threads we went through the logic where with 35/35 OW, if you're connecting ~2/4/6/8 hits, you're getting a 58/82/92/97% chance of ow, whereas with 35/76 ow its getting 84/98/100/100% chance. There's a threshold where you're landing a number of hits in a row and OW really becomes negligible above baseline of 25 on claw + 10 on boots. But even then, its obviously different in matchups vs caster / vs pally, or vs mb / vs vita. Losing those hitchecks on frames 4/8 really really hurts when ww is often putting you out of range by frames 16, sometimes 12.

I completely agree once you get in the 35% range on one claw or 25/25, the statistical probability of landing open wounds in a WW series gets relatively high, where more OW doesn’t provide much value.

But again that’s deterministic on the Def of your opponent if you hit enough to make the OW % Chance high in a single WW series.

It’s why I advise someone with a 2os claw to not use 2x Um, if they are using gore riders.

But as you mentioned, it also matters on what type of WW sin you are and playstyle. If hybrid, OW becomes more valuable as you have a hard time scaling physical damage due to not maxing claw mastery and not having hardly any ED% from gear. Ghost on the other hand can scale physical damage, at least comparatively, much better. And with ghost playstyle, you are tying to stat on top of your opponent at all times, thus lowering the value of high OW since it doesn’t stack.
On hybrid however, you are mostly jus trying to get a quick WW off and keep the trap lock + mind blast lock going. Then when you notice OW is no longer applied, telestomp in for a WW to reapply ow.

But as the math for chaos Vs fury is so close, and it’s extremely hard to math in play style, for hybrid, I always suggested fury over 2x chaos, due to the almost certainty of OW along with the 20% AR and -12.5% Def. Given on a hybrid without fools, you are AR starved.

For ghost, I always suggest 2x chaos > 1x chaos 1x fury
