Now they do

Correct but to go hostile they have to go to town 1st or be in town 1st.

If one is new with no tp book yet get ready to push esc when an unknown much higher lev tps back to town and wait for him to tp back unhostiled

Same if a higher level unknown joins game

Maybe not the best tactic but works well for me

what I mean is the pker never host you. and he is likely same lvl as you, not necessarily a high lvl.
Same thing happens in d3 HC too. he is well geared, he walks around, draws bunch of tough mobs, you walk with him, and you dead.

you're not "required" to have serveral thousand FG, let alone 1 million fg.

play small if that is fun for you, it is for many.

Same thing really, he still has to return to town to hostile you which gives you time to prep

i agree.

and anyway this most likely won't affect a player that join let's say a baalrun and do his stuff.
if you join an already open cowrun then yes, you're looking for death tho.

Thats kind of what I meant really when I mentioned pvp and rush games

no, because mobs kill u, not him. he doesn't host you, he just just stands there watch mob swamps on you.
d3 can not escape so this is very effective. d2 you can just escape. however new players may not realize it was a trap.

true in many cases, but not all. sometimes pkers fool around with you say doing quests etc, and draw lots of mobs, he is well geared and survives, but not you. Just a sample:
I have seen a few normal "a1 start" public games, where the guy is well geared and can kill blood raven in a few hits, then start drawing lots of mobs in stony rakinashu charged bolts etc, he runs around and do not kill anything, and if you really just starting lvl 1 fresh, you will be dead if you don't escape fast enough.

Edit: ofc I am talking about HC

If ur lvl 1 and die in hardcore its literally takes 5 seconds to return with New lvl 1 char.

Anyway. I could never play hardcore, i die all the time. I always rush in any game.. It's really hard to get good in a game if offense is something every1 Else is doing.

High rune drops are still ridiculously rare even after they improved drop rates.
This scarcity for these runes that are considered an essential part of the game is good for pvm balance, as runewords in general took most of the interesting itemization decisions out of walkthroughs

It's not so good for battlenet play where players have less interest in improving their pvm character and just want to have something to show for their time.

It's still quite easy to make giant piles of fg without bots if that's what you care about doing, I'm just not sure why you would want to

2019 Diablo 2 has about the same issue for a lot of PVM'ers that Diablo 3 had. u can MF for 12 hours straight and get fuckall for it. that's mainly for NL. unless you want to mule away shit loads of mats and spend all day selling stuff for 1 fg per.

but it's a binary problem. if u kill bots u can make MFing very worthwhile for a lot longer on refreshes, but you'll also kill ladder PvP. i'd personally be ok with that because ladder pvp and 20k fg FPK chars on ladder has always been a head scratcher for me. but that's a hypothetical if, im not suggesting they can kill off bots permanently.

It doesn't just hurt ladder pvp. The last couple ban waves also targeted utility programs like loaders and namebots which decimated nl pvpers.
Even though they can detect whenever people are using certain dupe methods (for example, whenever a player imbues, personalizes, or sockets an invalid target like jewelry or a charm) they don't ban for it.

The most helpful thing they could do is actually have people who have actually played the games work on them (or at least consult people who have done so)
