This sorc is using Infinity on merc.

She's playable without, but far better with.

The build is an alternative to a top-end lightning sorc for pvm.
I found it much safer, with fireball having high minimal damages + radius effects.
When you're surrounded, lightning can be weak ( 1 or 2 monsters hit at a time, 12frames per cast, minimal damages can be zero...).

And I dont know if you can complete Uber-Tristram with lightning (I never succeeded with Infinity/Griffon lightning sorc).

Actually you can make a good and cheap Tal version of this hybrid.

You'd lose some life, +4skills and a 30% cold boost, for a bit more %mf and cumfortable res.

The Enigma version gives ~ +42% cold damages, and +23% fire damages (still +9% against 75% fire res monster), hence my choice.

Not bad at all, for something different.
10/10 for it not being another lite sorc pvm guide.
Tals would work as a cheaper alternative, personally wouldn't invest in this gear since the tals setup would get the same job done, just a little slower.

I like the ideas and proven math of the OP, but I have been running a full tal blizzballer (can go FO/FB as well) for years without issues solo pvm or even full games with no issues at all..and I don't use skillers so I can MF. Just torch/anni/gheed and enough str for spirit is all.

I don't think a full tal set is necessarily "better" but I do agree that is WAY more affordable given the performance compared against loose uniques including MF if gemmed/runed/Faced right. Obviously you can get crazy high dmg from OP's gear setup but what do you expect given how pricey it is.

I am in the process of building another sorc for pure lite mf but I might just try this build in SP and make it or a variation of it instead..

If you do this sorc in Sp with editor, be warned that she won't be playable in the same way.

In SP, you will have a 11 frames delay after casting Frozen Orb that will prevent you from casting Fire Ball at the theorical speed your fcr would allow.
There's no such delay in the realms.

I know this hybrid is expensive, but she's more efficient in my eyes than a Light/Infinity sorc for general pvm.

About MF :

Full Tal set (+Gheed) provides 208%mf, this setup with Gheed provides 136%mf (at lvl96).
Anybody knows that, regarding Unique drops, the effective MF will be reduced to 113% and 88%.
When running Baal, odds to turn items into Unique Quality will be (13.8 to 17.7)% vs (12.1 to 15.6)%.
Considering the gain of time with higher damages, I believe this setup is better than a Tal build also for mf.

And if you use free sockets for Ists or 7mf sc instead of 20life, the gain will be even more higher !

stop trolling, light infy is the best sorc type and prolly the best solo pvm'er in the game.
after that comes fb/orb etc etc, but never ever is anything better than tal set for a hybrid. for light only, tal set is still #2 / runner up to a specific set up of hoto/griff/coh/spirit build, and dmg-wise to infy wield/viper/griff/insight merc sorc.

mf doesn't need more than 200% max, which u easily get with tal set/wt's/gheed's/sockets and maybe some inv.

in p8 light infy rapes any hybrid. granted, it's kind of the same kill speed in p1-3, but still tal > this.
