I really dont understand the idea of this. You could basically use the -seed command in single player mode and use a bot that would test each possible map variant -> and save them into a database.

The bot (or few bots) would simply go through all 65 536 possible seeds and not only make a useless picture, but rather create a database that would show which maps spawn useful runes.
So next time you could just go to Lower Kurast, you would look at the stuff near the waypoint and you would compare it with the database - that database would tell you if it is worth it to explore further, or rather create a new game, because the current map seed has 0 chance to spawn a rune in one of the chests.

Those pictures are completely useless, since they show nothing, no minimap, no start location; you cant really make anything out of them. You could as well make screenshots of every possible item spawned by Baal... which adds nothing, apart from proving that Baal can drop stuff - but we already know that. Just as we know that Lower Kurast can drop runes.
Instead of using the scientific method, you just make a collection of useless screenshots.

Seriously, get a bot that would go through all possible combinations and draw a map of the start area. This way your other bot (or human), could start a game, go to lower kurast WP and see if the map can spawn useful stuff or not.

The map seed and pattern chosen for every chest pop are completely independent. The only thing your map seed will determine is how many chances you get per run (1 campfire or 2, 3 chests or 6) and how long the run will take optimally (distance between WP and chests). Sure, you could run a bot (or multiple, it’s not difficult) to document every pattern on every player setting (they’re different for each) but that defeats the entire purpose of it, it’s just a group of runners posting their findings— a project of a collective effort; people look into this way too much and over think the idea. By that logic, why play the fucking game at all, you can just use a bot!

It’s pretty obvious from your post you just wanted to take away from the topic and have done no prior research to get an idea of how the patterns actually function, so why post at all?

I did not try to "take away from the topic", because I MF for runes @ D2JSP. And you do not need to attack me, but I guess stupid people don't like when you show them that they do something stupid.

The topic is written in a confusing way, with the opening post not explaining what you do - and its use so why do you write about "documenting", it is not documenting, this is just a useless task. You could as well make pictures of drops by Baal, to "prove" that Baal can drop every item.

And the opening post should be updated, stating that those patterns have no use, since even on first page some guy asks how to use them.

Not only you are doing something useless, you cannot even describe it properly ("do a research" xD) - it's fine that you waste own time, but dont waste time of others.
Anyway, why am I wasting my life writing to a stupid person? I could as well play chess with a pigeon - it will not understand anything and crap in the middle of the chess board.

I kind of agree with this guy. I don't understand the purpose of the thread. I thought at first it was map related but as I read more posts it is just chest drop related. I don't know why it matters what else drops from a chest with a rune. Can you explain it to me?

The point is to work towards finding out exactly how many of the 65536 patterns contain high runes. This information can be used to determine a best player setting to hunt for a specific rune, ie, if you want a Lo rune, P5-6 works out best (to our current knowledge) as there are 5 Lo patterns and 2 ohm patterns out the that set of 65536 patterns (each player setting* has its own set of 65536 patterns) - ergo best odds in that example.

Documenting all the patterns like this is a good method over time of securing knowledge of true, real patterns, and of course, eliminating any obscurity as to any patterns documented without knowing what players setting for example, or any outright bullshit - if anyone is sad enough to fake a drop.

I don't think I can explain it any simpler.

Okay so it's for finding out best settings for single player lk runs or how many chars to bring into your game online for lk runs.

That is useful but why has nobody just made a bot do it on single player and have it ss when a rune drops?
