I'm writing an update below due to a lot of questions in both Discord and Jsp about which parts of the guide might be outdated or inaccurate, since this guide was now written well over a year ago and the state of gm melee in d2r has changed significantly since then.
- Overall, the guide is still accurate. There are a few things which slightly differ that I'll note below
- In terms of gear changes, some things to note are:
* Gface is less and less used by all melee classes, it's considered "cookie cutter"/"boring." Fury druids are using rare pelts, magic pelts, armets, Jalal, & other options more and more, but Gface is still top tier
* Kinda confirmed at this point that the crafted belts that were so popular in LOD (24fhr/10OW/str/life) really suck in D2r and put you at a significant disadvantage, it seems
* The ring section reads as follows (refer to first page):
1. 9 Minimum Damage / 100+ Attack Rating / 20+ Strength + / 40+ Life Crafted Ring
2. 100+ Attack Rating / 20+ Strength / 10 + Dexterity / 40+ Life Crafted Ring
3. 100+ Attack Rating / 15+ Strength / 10+ Dexterity / 38+ Life Rare RingHowever, you should shoot for 9min/100+ar/20+str/50+ life for option #1 ........... 100+ ar/20+str/10+dex/50+life for option #2 .......... and option #3 would be quite bad at this point
* It's been very hard to figure out if FHR matters. Seems like duels overall have very similar outcomes whether you reach the first (9%) or second (20%) breakpoint. There's no point to not go for the 42fhr breakpoint if using Jalal or Gface but otherwise, this needs additional testing for the 9fhr vs 20fhr breakpoint as to whether it matters
* The
primary difference since this guide was written is in the availability of much better rare weapons. It's well-established, proven from extensive testing at this point, that solid 1Os erep fools/cruel weapons can significantly outperform the cookie cutter EDC/Ebotdz builds. While the very good ones remain expensive, they overall have become much more affordable since the guide was written. At the time the guide was written and posted, it was the standard to use 1Os erep weapons that did not have IAS on them (this was largely all that was available at the time) ... for example, 0ias 290-300ed fools erep zerks, small crescents, and ettin axes. These performed well but there is much better at this point. I will provide some pics below of what fury druids are CURRENTLY using with good success. (Simply put, overall, as the quality of all rare weaps has gone up, there is more pickiness about them ... even a 40ias/270ed/fools erep ettin wont go for much at all due to the low ED, whereas this would have been seen a game breaking weapon just a year ago...)
Since the state of rare weaps is so different now than it was a year ago, you could DM me or post here your weap to see about its viability/usefulness if you'd like..
