refer to FAQ #5 & #7

5. I see Fortitude has a lot more gfg defense, like +30% less chance to be hit. Why isn't that better?
Answer: Well, although this is true, and although receiving less strikes means less likelihood to be interrupted / being thrown into FHR animations, this is only true regarding melee physical attacking / ranged physical attacking mobs. A quick look at an online bestiary will show you that the greatest majority of the game mobs throughout the acts constitute of magic/elemental damage mobs, and even those who melee attack have, for the most part, a magical/elemental attack as well. Knowing this, and taking life stealing into account, this factor is simply not worth relying on.

refer to line 4 of mine

"Yes fade does add more resistance when it taps but merc will die before it ever taps and the fortitude will add enough resistance to tank a conviction aura venom lord in chaos sanctuary"
fort is better vs melee and vs casters/elemental, because of the automatic 30 all res and not waiting on tap

and about FAQ #7

ofc its jsp/10 :P

you forget opinions blew out the window when numeric proof became available.
whatever you choose to use is none of my concern, by all means, use a cracked breastplate for all I care.

no opinion on the debat yet, but this need an other presentation : it's a draft.
you rely everything on stats comparisons and there is no direct stats on the same page...
it's like : I see 40* bunch of maths under hammer & decrepyt and conclusion "30302 more dmgs than forty "!! how to check this ? Must scroll, then search, then recompute myself all datas..
treac vs forty
100 / 130 -> table, on same page, picture .. require a final digest table
explain some situations with text : 3 attacks vs 2 ..

your bumping your thread like if it was a perfect simple obvious & math demos everyone will agree at first sight...it's not

btw : if i read well, your conclusion mostly depends on
Special section: Hammerdin Concentration Aura SLevel 35 (PvM average- Calculations in regard will be coloured in blue from here on):+570% ED.
in no hammer blessing is < in almost all cases ? pretty confusing... reroll the guide to clarify all this

so you're looking for a dummies guide? the hardest thing here is multiplication, at best.

ps a lot of misconceive the blue parts as "relying on hammer's conc". it's not, it's 2 different computations.

if you use a merc in pvp, you shouldn't be reading this topic in the first place.. This is aimed at the 99% of the diablo population that actually have a brain.. You should probably stick with what you do and use fort on your pvp merc ^^

like 99% of diablo 2 population have a brain, i think its exactly the opposite,

Also, treachery thingy has to get activated to compare to fortitude, and 5% max light res helps merc/you tank vs souls.
