Forget frozen orb. Use Blizzard as your cold spell.

It works much better.

Blizzard + FB build = fail.

No it doesn't.

Blizzard gives freeze time length synergy to glacial spike.

So...

Glacial spike on left mouse button. Hotkey Blizzard on the right.

You can freeze monsters for a split second whilst your blizzard does the damage.

This means the monsters (in theory), should not be able to advance as fast toward you, as they would be if you cast frozen orb.

Orb slows. Glacial spike stuns (albeit for a split second), so if you need to get away. You can.

And by the way, think about your options...

If the monster is cold immune, you are screwed with either frozen orb or glacial/blizzard mix. However the latter allows stun time (even if for a short while)...

Think about it...

What I mean to say is, in the event that you are fighting non cold immunes, your glacial should stun.

And if they are cold immune, neither f orb or blizz will work...so its back to fire (I guess)

Its easy if you think about it.

E.g.: You are fighting non cold immune monsters.

Glacial spike has very little (Close to no cast delay). Keep hitting the left mouse button.

Then Blizzard (which does have a cast delay) will do the damage, but its ok. It will connect with the monster, because they are frozen...

And if the monster is NEITHER cold or fire immune...its beautiful...

Glacial spike to stun (assume little/no cast delay) and fireball to finish (assume little/no cast delay)...

Your enemies are dead AND they have trouble advancing towards you.

Sure the stun penalty is nerfed in hell mode, but it buys you time...no?

I tried both this build and fb/f-orb.

fb/met + blizz/glacial > fb/met + f-orb. And you only need one pt in glacial spike as a pre-req...after all you ONLY need it for its stun properties.

Try it. Tell me what you think...

It DOES take a while to get used to. I will admit that. It's much lazier and easier to use f-orb...

But if you are doing a fire/cold sorc, f-orb does little dmg, and does not slow/stun as well as glacial spike. You will need to be more skilful as a player, and you will have to interact with your keyboard. However, after a while, you will notice it works far better.

Or maybe it just suits my gameplay better.

Up to you of course.

Also, is it just me, or is the dmg on F-orb useless in hell mode?

Say you are trying to kill lister with F-orb in hell...

Just imagine. They would charge the hell out of you in seconds.

With glacial you can at least stun them for a millisecond, cast a few blizzards (yes, you have to be very quick), then if your gear is of low quality, you can deceide to run away.

With F orb. It won't slow the last pack much at all. They will catch you easily...and within seconds, unless your gear is good...then bye bye sorc. And you will be asking your friends for help.

Remember the whole pack will take tiny damage from orb. And will not be slowed much. Then you will suffer multiple attacks.

Even if you block. Then... err.. block stun...and loads of them rush you. Glacial gives a split second time stun...

Again...think about it...
