This is a matter of fact. And it’s fact that a nova sorc should hold infinity. It is by far the best way to build a nova sorc. And it’s not even close.



In the case of light immunes, you’re 100% correct. What about in areas without light immunes (cows)?

I just tested and I will concede that on high players , infinity on character is superior. On low players it does not matter so much and I would prefer 200fcr for the movement.

doesn't change the fact that you're wrong. 200 fcr nova isn't viable. dogshit damage, dogshit mana sustain, dogshit survivability. it's dogshit by all metrics

100% viable. Easy 3k+mana /max res with wizspike. Very fast with static. I''ll outfarm/outrun you every time

disregard those as options.

aside from wielding infinity yourself, you can also go this route with an infy merc:
crescent moon
spirit
griffon
viper/eni if you can compensate for the fcr loss
arach
frosts
silkweave/mf boots/sands
sojs
fcr amu/mara

without insight merc you'll have slight mana issues. silkweaves help with that. all in all though, infinity with an insight merc is the better option.

note that % bonus light damage on sorcs only adds to your lightning mastery, not your total damage. so 15% from ormus or 20% from eschuta is not the damage boost you'd think it is



Question. Why would ormus be worse than vipermagi? Especially if it was a perfect 3 nova/20 light damage? Just because of resistances or mdr?

The 3 nova is good but 20 light damage is additive with lightning mastery so doesn’t make a big difference.

If you’re using infinity then you need the 30% FCR from vipermagi to hit the 105 breakpoint.

Yea that’s what I have now. Wielding infinity scythe, with vipermagi. Didn’t know if a 2/20 sorc Ammy and changing to ormus would be better damage. Survivability may take a hit as well though with resistances and mdr being gone.

the light dmg is comparable to the additional +1 to light mastery you get from viper.
it also means -1 to warmth, es and ts, as well as -10 essential fcr

ormus works better on a nova than on a light sorc though, tbf. a light sorc typically weaves in chain lights, so the overall dps drop is easier to notice there. on a nova you likely just use nova. still, the 10 fcr opens up your gear options noticably so imo it's never worth to use ormus even on a nova sorc
