there's not much difference in survivability between the normal wind druid and hurricane druid, and if anything the hurricane druid has more
they use mostly identical gear, have mostly identical stats and skills.
any wind druid can use HoW instead of oak to help their merc damage, and there would be no difference between those two chars if I had statted oak on the hurricane druid

they both have the same cyclone armor, same hp, same dr. The wind build has 1 frame faster cast rate and higher FHR from spirit, but the hurricane build actually has a somewhat significant advantage in survivability because as you can see, the hurricane both permachills and FHR locks monsters unlike the very short chill-only on the normal windy.

for some reason you have skipped decra and the fact that hurri on nadodu locks monsters as well

but it doesn't
it has 37.5/75/100% chance to fhr at 6.25%/12.5%/25% of max hp and chills for 0.5 seconds in hell every 0.8s, reduced by enemy cold resist
the normal trash mobs are 20% cr ~31.5k hp doom knights and 50% cr ~55.6k hp venom lord
a 3100 damage / -0% hurricane on a windy would do ~7.9% max hp to a doom knight and slow for 0.4s. About half of the doom knights will get FHR'd on 37.5% of hits, half the doom knights won't get FHR'd at all, and it will only slow for half the time.
against venom lords it won't FHR any of them and will slow for only 31% of the time

a 5081 / -145% hurricane does ~32% of max hp and should FHR doom knights on every hit or 75% of the time, even FHR'ing minions reliably, and slows with 100% uptime
and against the venom lords, at ~17.8% of max hp it should be comfortably into the 75% fhr threshold, again with 100% slow uptime.

You can see that in the video on the previous page. Its a night and day difference

It's not worth it really

A regular Windy with 7K Nado and 4K Hurricane is far superior.

How are you getting 4K hurricane though, with a regular setup, level 45 hurricane (this has most of your inventory filled with skillers) only does 2792 top end damage....

if you want to compare players 1 games where monsters have only 1:4.5 hp and 1:1.4375 damage/ar, then sure, here's what that looks like with hurricane;
notice everything dying in 1 hit to a passive aoe

well its good for chaos at least

now i want to see your char doing full rush and at least 10 baals :P

the simple fact that decra breaks more immunities and has crowd control ability easily outweigh better aoe of hurri

+ you are losing helm/weapon/shield slots for mandatory cold dmg items, when these slots may vary in nado build

e.g. we can use circlet/pelt/jalal, spirit/storm and even beast instead of hoto for fun nado/summon build

not to mention an opportunity to swap reapers to insight for rushes and deep mf

standard nado is simply ultra flexible build thats why its most common one

Standard nado druids are like I've said, the benchmark for a mediocre pvm build that doesn't scale well enough to do P8 runs efficiently thanks to lackluster damage and awkward AoE. This variant has solved that pretty handily.
just running into a pack of unique venom lord pack that's spread out takes a very inordinate amount of time to kill with nados

I'm not sure what you think you're witnessing, but decrep from merc has very obviously worse crowd control and struggles more with immunities than the hurricane setup. There's a world of a difference between having a 33% proc decrep that takes a few hits to even land and then just slows, versus a full blown permastun aoe that simply stops enemies from attacking or moving until they die. Putting monsters into FHR every 20 frames and slowing down their velocity by 66% is enough to permastun without even counting the nado. And a build that does only physical damage without enough cold to kill anything, is terrible at taking down physical immunes. Even if you can break phys immunities on a windy with decrep, you're dealing 20% or less damage- that 3k hurricane with -0% resist is probably the best thing you've got then. Dealing full damage of both cold & physical means only the rarest unique mobs can stop you, and the huge -resists from facets means that breakable cold immunes still take large cold damage

oh, this again:

"they did not give me 150k dmg, this build is bad"

i see this other way:

even if decra has shorter radius it is still one single ability only
which provides us with both great dmg and crowd control right in place we need it, not far away

opening to us different auras variations and even if there is no phys facets in this game we can still beat breakable immunes with ease
because we have pretty high minions dmg as well as our own

some period ago, you were ardent defender of fire dru, now something has changed seems and coldy is top tier now
