I was one of those asking about ik barbs the other day and was wondering,
1. lets say im not a rich fella and at most i have about 75fg at a time. what would be good options for sockets on wep, helm, and armor? I was thinking shael/shael the wep and maybe sol/sol the helm. the armor mayne another sol, shael, or even hel?

Also, the wep is 10 base speed. with the wep ias (-40) and the gloves (-25), wouldnt just one shael or 15 ias jewel be enough to reach -70?

10-40-25-15=70??

Sort of true, I've not played a full Tal's sorc yet. I think there would be some FCR Issues (my sorcs must have 105). I do have a partial Tals Blizz MF sorc (belt, amu and armor), which I used to start on the previous ladder. Pretty decent character I guess.

I think Ptopazes are the way to go in armor slots. Sols... I'm not too sure they are worth it, although at least one comment recommended them. I guess if you want more safety, but can't afford Ber's, this could be the alternative.

Shael in armor gives FHR, which you don't need, and Hel is not necessary, since the Hammer still needs 225 STR and you don't want to Hel it.

It doesn't work that way. WW breakpoints require all IAS to be on the weapon itself. In case of IK hammer, 70% ias is required ON THE WEAPON. You have to remember this. 2x shael or 15 ias/ed/ar jewel or a mix is necessary for the breakpoint.

IAS on the glove only helps with attacks other than ww, like Berserk or Concentrate.

Now the question is that if the base wep speed is 10, 2 15 ias jewels wouldnt help cause that would put it at (10-40-15-15=-60?)
To make things worse, a mix of shael/15 ias jewel would make it -65

Am I missing something?

Just like you said, you need weapon speed -60 on IK weapon, which is achieved through 70% or more IAS. 75 (shael+15ias) or 80% (2x shael) doesn't make any difference.
