I would think gts would do as a cheap pick, and work for a hybrid that's leaning more towards traps(just using psn/ow as a backup).

you obviously have not had first hand experience comparing high damage claws to gts for whirling or you suck at triwhirling. in any case physical damage adds up quite nice with rapid hits, mathcraft isn't going to show you what in game experience does.
