Maxing conviction isn't needed, though. If you can reach a level 25 conviction (-150% enemy resist) it caps out. The negative % enemy defense is -93% from level 25-26, at increases to -94% at level 27. If you wear maras (+2), bk (+1), anni (+1), ptorch (+3), battle order (+1), and (+20) conviction, you have a level 28 conviction (-94% enemy defense). The -% enemy defense doesn't work on the enemy's defense as a whole. If you have, say, 10000 defense... -100% from conviction (if you were to reach this), would reduce the enemy's defense by less than 2000 (it doesn't work on the defense as a whole). This said, it would be best to put enough into conviction for it to safely reach level 25 with all gear. So, you can reduce the amount you add to conviction by 3 (if you use the +gear listed), and add that to something more useful such as charge (as an example), which would increase your chance to hit by a greater % than the 1% from conviction would give. The extra points to charge would also allow for more damage.
And once you meet an auradin or a foher with 20 pts in Conviction you're forced to stack resistances, and do shitty damage (as higher conviction negates a lower level one) and thus lose.
