gt are kinda weaksauce imo.. unless you like just draining people and being a trapper/drainer, which is fine I guess.

I see higher stats as being worth it. you get more damage from the stats themselves, not counting the runic or feral base damage being higher. you can make the stats with base vit assuming the items are obtainable. Even a small (keyword: small) investment is worth it imo if you are building on budget. (I know some perfectionists may flame me for that last comment but seriously imo its still true that is better than using gts on a budget build)
When you get someone with a nice triwhirl the damage starts adding up. GvG also, ever catch someone in a whirl and whirl with them in a line? guess what wins out the runic damage or the gt drainer?
Of course if you find that you need a *lot* of stats to wear elite claws with the setup you would use with gt, then it is not worth it for that setup, but the build as a whole is weaker and that is partially why, perhaps time to find better items to make those stats and only use gt as a temp.

would you say a 3 ls, 3wb gt or basically a plain 3ls runic is better?

3ls 3wb runic would be nice no?

for a shadow discipline based hybrid uh.. I'd go with runic over a nicer gt staffmod. For a trap based one err.. depends on the block% but a runic with those staffmods would be nice.
