As I've said before. Technically smite and WW are melee, but in Melee leagues they aren't to create a more equal environment as most most builds aren't able to compete with a Unblockable, Uninterruptible attack, or a moving attack. In melee league terms, the standard for melees is;
Being stationary when attacking
Requiring AR to hit
Can be blocked
And then some will argue about allowing elemental damage or not.

p.s. out of curiosity , in your "gm" duels is it "gm" for a zealer to flash HF aura?
The real problem I have with smite is the kb, fury druids have shit def so even if smite required ar id still get hit everytime. The reason people dont like it is because its unblockable (unlike every other melee skill).
Yes flashing HF is considered bm but feel free to use it on me, it don't effect my attack speed
