So how much ar is ideal??? I play by us west rules. Been messing around with a few different set ups trying to balance my paladin.

Around 22-26k is what I usually aim for. Varies a lot on setup.

So, aside from Shaft/Shako/EDC, what other gear combinations do you guys like to mess around with and/or have had success with?

I'd like to try and fool around with a few builds based around eth steel carapace. It's a respectable piece with an open socket for plenty of options.

Also, Even though EDC is better, I've always liked Eth Runemaster with Zod, 2x Lo, 2x 40/15. Same goes for Eth Heaven's Light Zod, Lo'd.

Opinions?

Life tap, you're not gonna beat shaft. Use visionary and edc or rare 2 socket fool's. Carapace would be ok for non tap builds.

Oh of course, Shaft/EDC is unreal even at my lower level of 90.

1) Enigma based, not as good as shaft but if you really really like vita it works
2) Eth rep 2os armor, would be better than ecara with that extra socket, but looks less cool than the black ecara (unless red vita/gold fhr)
3) glitched bane or glitched valor are worth a try, though you probably don't have enough DS or AR again compared to shaft builds
4) cookie cutter as it is, thrown on a shaft and vary your other gear/stats/inventory/skills to test it out with as many opponents as possible. better keep something fixed and find the most versatile setup and persevere (and pray hard like dark-soul said)

eth runemaster gives you option to use angelics, while most definitely deadly strike would not be enough to get high average damage, even though you see big numbers per non-critical/deadly hit
eth heaven's light, nice paladin skills, but in the end since you BO on CTA + spirit or CTA + HoZ swap, the skills add to fana and zeal only, so damage and A/R and maybe IAS if your fana level is really high, other than that just straight out increasing DS/CB/damage would be better

just my US$0.02-worth above.

Definitely agree on ecara, sexiest looking arbor in the game on a paladin in my opinion. Partly the reason I want to try it out!

It's crazy how much traditional c/c build has fallen out of popularity. They were a dime a dozen just a few years ago, but shaft has made it all but obsolete.
