It doesn't show any damage increased on the char screen is why people think it doesn't work.
But indeed, it definitely does add to it.

eni is still best choice for smiter even though fort does add damage. For ubersmiter coh is probably best

phoenix/fort/rends/120-45 helm are all horrible choices for a smiter.

damage from scs (ie, 3/20/20s etc) are -not- added

Don't think the ED from fort and phoenox does a huge ammount of damage, because it doesn't, indeed, it does add some extra damage but not enough to be groundbreaking. Do this if you only want to smite vs smite duel, otherwise stick to the basic gear, (hoz, or exile, enigma.)
