How the hell do you afford perfects that are rare as hell?

At the time I made the guide I was a melee addict so i had to have the top gear available. But once i sold all my melee gear I wasn't to worried about top gear and am now happy with my budget melee that someone was nice enough to buy me.

That said perf exile wasn't a rare item. Was pricey at the time but easily found.

Is a 1 soxx fools weapon really better than ebotd? I ask because i know that botd has a higher average dmg output than a 1 soxx Self repair fools at bvb (just a 2 soxx selfrepair fools is good as botd)

Depends on the other stats on the fools/type of fools. Most of the time an edc/ebotdz will be a better option than a fools unless it's near perf.

On barb? I'm going say no, botd is better
