if the offhand glitch is still working then definitely oath as the only real budget option.
still, the game right now allows you 30 second runs on a budget sorc, so if barb is only getting slightly more than 2x the drops a sorc is getting AND bricking way easier (any conviction spawn basically, since you can't keep your merc alive unlike sorc), it still seems pretty crap to me

barb had a good argument when games were stuck at 60-120 second windows for the long time

i generally agree for early ladder rune/mfing, but iirc that 30s video you posted a couple months back isn't really representative:

1) no inventory management
2) can't always rely on non-split council
3) had a really impressive pre-load screen run, was almost at ormus when screen came up. btw, this doesn't work anymore on this patch, they fixed the issue.

Doesnt find item ignore no drop % on normal council members? Making it even better than straight 75% increase in drops when comparing to other classes (assuming p1).

Early ladder start mb better farm pit with low budget zerker.

Very easy area to farm and there can drop nice items cause its lvl 85.

Yes. If your clearspeed is anywhere near reasonable, Barbs remain stupidly OP rune farmers.

Thought I remembered correctly. My first trav barb was an oath WW barb with a crappy min roll so it should be fine as a ladder starter.

Also one of the benefits of WW is that you can use reaper on a merc to increase damage pretty easily, just requires kira's guardian + guardian angel to survive.

Btw would ik ww barb work too ?

to put numbers to it
say you have a very barebones build of;

>arreats (could/should be crown of thieves, but for damage comparison lets be more favorable)
>highlords
>wealth
>laying of hands
>2x dwarf star
>hsarus belt (upgrade)
>hsarus boots
>2x ali baba on swap
barb torch, but no anni (I'm speculating on availability)
with 1 point ww / 1 zerk and 20 mastery, so you can max bo/find item/find potion and get 1 pointers. you could skip bo for more ww, though it won't help zerk.
that all winds up with +530% ed from skills/items, then whatever strength, and ~47% ds/cs
assuming average damage rolls, upped gavel has ~261 base damage and 253 str req with 1.1x scaling but hits at a pathetic 10 fpa, oath in any of the ~48-49.5 bases like ettin/cs/small crescent can be 278 damage and +75% global ed and hits at 2 fpa, and grief pb hits 437 with 20% ds and ~170%+ global ed.
oath should have no problems hitting 5-6x the dps of gavel in that setup, BUT the big issue is that you lose amp damage or ali babas. And amp makes you deal 3x the damage, so the dps comparison isn't that far off. Might be 2x the dps for oath ww in that setup, and 1/3 the dps for your merc

utter garbage
