i understand the difference between choosing to max HS or Smite, but which is considered "better". I figure the difference between the block%'s between maxed HS and filling that last will only be like 1 or 2% at the high levels it will achieve through +skills, and defense is very nice, but besides for WW barbs, do you really find any of the AR using chars (melee chars) to be any sort of challenge for a v/t since smite is superior to most melee attacks

That's my thinking at least and why i was leaning towards going with smite over HS, but i wanted some better opinions.

you will rape crap barbs regardless of how much defense your holy shield gives
you will lose to good barbs regardless of how much def you have

Im personally a bif v/t fan, this is a really really great guide, just about everything is correct, and id really need good tips to deal with necs and sometimes eles, care to pm me?

a good necromancer is practically impossible to beat if they play it smart. however, what u can do is put on high fcr gear and telearound foh spamming until u get a good lock then telesmite when they're open

that works for druids as well, but keep in mind, either of the 2 if they're good will destroy you in 1v1 gm
