I just tried some items in the attack speed calculator. BOtD GP seems to be the best 5fpa +4 rangeadder weapon indeed.
It is such a shame Giant Tresher BOTD is missing 5 ias from being 4 fpa +4rangeadder.. that would be beast

A long time ago (2002ish) we used to use either ethereal great poles with 5x 40/15s and a zod, or non-ethereal ones with 5x 40/15s and an eth rune for autohit (back when the eth rune was bugged and removed all defense from your opponent).

Since it's pretty easy to find ethereal base items, it could be fun to make an ethereal 5x 40/15 + Lo rune GPA and just break it and make more.

Should be around 571 top damage, which should get you to around 9k fury on screen.

9k at 4 frame with 20% extra ds is actually way more average damage per second than 12k at 5 frame without that Lo rune.

Of course, etomb still comes out on top in terms of average damage per second, but without that extra range that can make a pretty significant difference when dealing with smiters.

I have a question though how to bump up my AR without losing the most on my char. I play in ladder, so no bugged runewords/perfect rares exist (30/60/9/9 doesn't exist for example)
My AR is way too low. I have ~15k ar with a normal melee setup: botdz, storm, dungo, forti, rends, guillame, gores, highlords, raven, stat ring.
If I swap out highlords and stat ring with angelic, I have 23k ar. Should I Cham my guillames so I can wear full angelics? This gives me 33k ar.
Also, I haven't found a cerebus yet. The AR bonus on that would probably bump my AR up. I will socket that with a 7fhr/7dex/9str/28 ed jewel, to get the 42 fhr bp with aforementioned equip.

In my inv I currently use 9x shaper ~40 life and no sc's yet. Still looking for those, so that will add another 150-180 base ar.

Abbreviations:
AR = Attacker's Attack Rating
DR = Defender's Defense rating
Alvl = Attacker's level
Dlvl = Defender's level

Given all other circumstances are the same, a barb with same AR, let's say 20k, and level as a wolf, but 20k def instead of 2k, will have the following chance to hit:
Barbarian chance to hit wolf = 200%*0.90*0.5 = 90%
Wolf chance to hit barbarian = 200%*0.50*0.5= 50%

That's a sick difference.
What is the general AR you want to have when fighting other melee characters? Barbs often have 20k++ def, which is huge versus the 2k of the druid.

Also, the resistance is really low versus elemental chars, even with tomb reaver.
What item should I sub in for a resistance item? I was thinking to use a kira's instead of gulli/cerebus? Or would jalals with 15 res jewel work better

Sorry but that's just terrible reasoning not utilizing full dr for pvp melee

So either you sock your gulli/cerebus with ber along with ber storm, Or, you use COA socked with some nice jewels preferably 2x 7% fhr/9str/9dex/30%ed which leaves you with a really powerfull helm

If you would have read more closely you would have noticed that the combination of a ber'd Stormshield and the 8% DR from Fort of Chains also breaks the 50% DR cap.

well never heard of fort of chains not played d2 in over 3 years now. guess it's some bugged or hacked runeword item
