If it should be multiplied, final dps shown on maxroll is 15-20% lower than it actually should be.

Also, I think there's the 2 frame merc AI delay between each hit which is not included in maxroll. That would reduce dps from what is shown, to a ratio of 9/11.

Btw I get 146k dps on my necro d2planner build, against 50% DR hell mobs. Hope it works at least close to that in reality.


I always test the dmg vs. Stone Skin monsters. It's the most realistic cause of slowdown you'll experience.

Not happy about it eh? I have yet to find the best setup for an act 5 merc myself. It feels less reliable than the act 2 merc so far.

I am done with a5 merc for now, might give another try in the futur. ^_^

It feels so goddamn close, you know?

Dual Eth Headstriker has felt best so far; I think using Battle Cry over Gavel as a default MIGHT be better?
Was out of town for 2 days, so didn't get to experiment.

I always got a lvl 23 battle cry to reach 95% hit rate, it is a really nice temp debuff till you got a nice shot for amp or on isolated target, however it is by far inferior to amp. :<

Just trying to figure out what the variables are that might push this A5 fucker over the line
Maybe also going deeper into War Cry might help now..?

Thing is it seems like they both benefit from different levels of "active" gameplay; A5 Merc moves around a lot faster on his own, so if there's a way to adapt to that, gameplay-wise, it might be worth something. I feel like you can let the A5 Merc do his own thing a lot more than A2, since he runs around so fast.

The thing I've realized is that it's just more efficient to self-dps with berserk + 6xlem offhand. With the supposed backend DB overhaul, timers shouldn't be an issue. With the hidden +20% find potion synergy, a greater proportion of the gold is coming from the hork, so losing out on an ali baba or 6xlem sword during dps is less impactful.

With this in mind, A2 merc is better since he buffs your dps via might/decrep. I mean sure, you can get 2x stacking Last Wish on A5, but that's still ridiculously expensive.
